Welcome!

The Camino de Santiago has become fashionable, even more so as the next Holy Year (called Xacobeo by the Galician marketing experts) approaches rapidly and an estimated 200 000+ pilgrims will walk, bike or ride this over thousand year old road. There are already a lot of web sites and blogs around regarding the Camino de Santiago so why yet another one?
Having walked the Camino de Santiago several times over the last 11 years and having spend a total of four years as hospitalera in different pilgrim refuges in Spain on the Camino de Santiago de Compostela has become an important part of my life and my spirituality. As I am planning to do an “anniversary walk” later this year, I thought a web site, with integrated Camino blog, that combines the experiences of those eleven years could be useful to other pilgrims as well.

1999 was the first time I walked from Roncesvalles to Santiago de Compostela and I hope, God willing, to repeat this pilgrimage later this year. But no, that is not correct, you can’t “repeat” a pilgrimage as it is each time an unique experience. Apart of blogging about my preparation for this long-distance walk I will also put up articles about different aspects of the pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela in the hope that they prove useful to others. Feel free to contact me if you have specific questions!

The bulk of practical information can be found under the “Your Pilgrimage” tab in the main menu. There you find everything you need before, during and after your pilgrimage. Just hover over the menu items and you will see the subpages magically appearing ;-) Buen camino!
